Dungloe River Walk: A Hidden Gem in County Donegal
At first glance, Dungloe River Walk may seem like any other walk - a well-levelled path, beautiful nature, and fresh air. But just 100 meters into the walk, you'll enter a magical woodland full of surprises that will leave you enchanted. Located in County Donegal, Ireland, this hidden gem offers a unique experience that visitors of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy.
If you enter from the N56 side of the road, the first part of the walk is a great set-up area of huge fairy houses decorated with plenty of funny and beautiful details. Next, there is a small loop between the trees on a boardwalk path made as a fiery village and a fiery tree perfect for leaving the dummy to the fairies. Finally, the bridge above the Dungloe River is more like an art installation than a bridge.
After crossing the river, the walk continues with an easy and well-developed 2 km loop along Dungloe Lough. You can take in the breathtaking views of the wild landscape while strolling along the path.
The walk is suitable for families with children, adults, and visitors of any fitness level. You can visit and enjoy it during the winter and the summer months. It won't disappoint you.
To make your visit more convenient, you can park your car in the shopping centre beside the GAA pitch and walk about 150 meters to the entrance of the walk. The shopping centre has toilets, and you can also shop there. Alternatively, you can park at the Lidl car park and cross the road to the walk entrance.
In conclusion, Dungloe River Walk is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and enchanting experience in County Donegal. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.
